UPFEST BRISTOL & Urban view exhibition launch

UPFEST! // June 4-6th 2010 // Bristol

After a hard week before upfest, making sure I had all canvas finished for the
URBAN VIEW, show at the view art gallery, and then a 3 hour drive down to Bristol a few days before Upfest weekend began. With all my canvas in my car, I dropped it off at the gallery
and began to plan ideas for the painting outside the gallery, and also helped the Upfest organizers sort prints for upfest!

Exhibition launch- URBAN VIEW
The show launch for urban view went down really well!, there was a good crowd of people,
and the weather was a treat. Free beers and champs, everyone was content... shame i had such a bad throat and cold otherwise i would of happily drank, after the job of climbing up the Scaffold
on the side of the building... that didnt stop mr Ian phenna though, the artist who i was collaborating with was happily guzzling down a beer at 30ft high, and a fair drop infront of us

Res Nullius - Faunagraphic Exhibition - The Old sweet shop - sheffield

‘Res nullius’ by Faunagraphic

  Preview – Saturday 17th April, 2-6pm.
  Exhibition runs 18th April – 30th June

The Old Sweet Shop presents a solo show of new work by graffiti artist, graphic designer and illustrator Faunagraphic. Hailing from Yorkshire, her work is heavily influenced by nature, wildlife and the surrounding   beauty of her native county.

‘Res nullius’ is an exhibition of detailed canvases in inks and spray paint and prints, based around the theme  of abandoned buildings and wildlife. Artwork will also be spray painted onto the wall to complement the show.

Faunagraphic uses the theme to examine the idea of finding ownership in lost and abandoned things which are ‘nobody’s property’. Wild animals are regarded as res nullius as well as property that has been abandoned by its owner, which is as much res nullius as if it had never belonged to anyone.

You are all cordially invited to the opening of the exhibition on Saturday 17th April, 2-6pm where refreshments will be served. It will be the first chance to view the ‘res nullius’ exhibition’ which will run until the end of June.

Please feel free to invite your friends and if you know anybody that would be interested in hearing about events and goings on at The Old Sweet Shop then please do invite them to join the facebook group:

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=111520085528264#!/group.php?gid=6807176566

We hope to see you at the opening.

MEMORIES BOOK PROJECT- SUBISM/ DAHRA

memories project subism
Memories is a project which I was invited to take part in through Subism.co.uk, To write about my Leukeamia cancer experience which i have been in remission from for just over 3 years .

Please visit the website

More about the memories project.....

Memories Is being launched by Designers Against Human Rights Abuse (DAHRA), Subism, OneTenEleven Media and editor Garrick Webster.

Memories will look at the thoughts and experiences of individuals who have survived cancer, as well as those of people who have lost loved ones. There will be ten stories inside, each looking at one person’s recollection of a particular day in the struggle against cancer. For each of these ‘memories’ a dozen leading artists, illustrators and designers will be creating their own visual response. Two further stories will go ‘open brief’ and we’ll be inviting creatives worldwide to make their own images to accompany the text. The best submissions will go into the book.

That makes for 12 touching stories, and 144 smashing pieces of artwork

ABOUT THE GRAFFITI EVENT IBUG

From August 15th to 30th the former VEB Leuchtenbau opens its doors to the public. Within the special ambiance of the old factory buildings, that will be redesigned by famous artists in the two weeks before, the visitors will see unique art. Graffiti, street-art and installings are the artistic forms of expression thereby - the men of action come from Germany and Europe. Among this group are counted the artist STUKA from Hamburg City, Loomit or emil one, Faunagraphic and Rocket for some names. They all find authenticiation in the scene and »they will find their way to involve the present conditions like old installings, engine parts, cable looms or windows. And they understand the gaming and experimantation with the uncommen architecture.« The truth behind these words of the Graffiti artist Tasso, whose hometown is Meerane and who is the creative head behind the IBUg, should visitors check on the ground.
